David G. Merner - Partner

David G. Merner, a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, was called to the bar of Ontario in 1980. He has pursued the practice of civil litigation, specializing in Insurance and personal injury litigation, including class actions.

David has broad subject matter experience, including professional errors and omissions, commercial risks, policy interpretations, motor vehicle, products liability, transportation law (railway, trucking), environmental claims, occupier’s liability, school board liability and medical malpractice.

Together with experience appearing as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario, David has used court-based and private alternative dispute resolutions processes extensively in his practice. He has represented Canada's largest passenger railway system, numerous insurers, provincial government ministries and universities. He has been class counsel in various class-action lawsuits.

David is highly conscious of the costs of litigation and the paramount need to ensure that the civil justice process yields timely, fair and cost-effective results for the client. 

A Past President of The Lawyers Club, David is an avid fisherman and golfer.
