Nelson Dewey - Associate Lawyer

Nelson Dewey was born in Ottawa and raised in Toronto, and has lived for a time in cities including Montreal, Quebec City, Seoul and Frankfurt. He attended the University of Toronto and later York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, where he obtained his LLB. He articled at a renowned defence litigation firm in Hamilton, Ontario, and was called to the Bar in 2003. He continued to practice civil litigation in Hamilton until joining Black Sutherland in August 2006.

Nelson’s practice presently includes all manner of insurance litigation, with a focus on motor vehicle, occupiers’ liability and property damage. He has experience appearing on numerous matters in the Superior Court of Justice, as well as for a time in the Ontario Court of Justice as a federal prosecutor involving bail matters.

Nelson is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
