Robert S. Sutherland - Senior Partner
Robert S. Sutherland stood first in his class at the University of Toronto in 1974 and attended Osgoode Hall Law School on a scholarship. His practice is devoted exclusively to the representation of insurers, primarily the defence of liability claims.
Bob has a special interest in files involving either complex medical problems or liability issues. He has acted on personal injury cases involving everything from stiff necks and fractures to head injuries and quadriplegia. He has handled a wide range of liability claims, including occupiers’ liability and product-liability matters. As an avid sailor, Bob has a great deal of experience handling files involving boat liability. He has attained both an Ontario powerboat license and Bronze Level sailing qualifications. Bob is well aware of the fact that litigation is an expensive proposition for any client. He believes that all too often files get bogged down over procedural or tactical battles during the course of which the clients’ objective is overlooked. Bob brings a hard-nosed but realistic approach to the settlement of cases on which he is retained.
