George Tsakalis

George received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Windsor in 1997 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1999. He also obtained a Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015. Prior to completing his legal education, George obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from the University of Windsor. George specialized in insurance defence litigation after his call to the Bar. He was appointed as a Member of the Social Security Tribunal of Canada in 2017, where he decided hundreds of cases involving disputes under the Canada Pension Plan, the Old Age Security Act, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. He joined Black Sutherland as a partner in June 2023.

George has acquired jury and non-jury trial experience at the Superior Court of Justice in the defence of personal injury, insurance coverage, and professional negligence matters. He has also appeared as lead counsel at the Ontario Court of Appeal.

George is a member of the insurance defence group at Black Sutherland. His areas of practice include general civil litigation, motor vehicle accident, and the defence of Occupiers’ Liability claims.
